Bold Unique Paralegal Careers with Specialty Law Firms
Recently we've been featuring articles on unique
business and industries to take your paralegal career
to. But for those of you who lean more to the
Traditional approach of seeking a career at a Law Firm,
this articles suggests you may be able to do both. That
being seeking a paralegal career with a law firm that
specializes in the more unique and bolder industries
that you've been reading about here on the
LegalFieldCareers.com site. - And - there's certainly no
shortage of both. For example, we've featured articles
and valuable tips you won't find anywhere else on
Paralegal Careers in the Entertainment Film Industry,
NAICS industry code 512110. NAICS (North American
Industry Classification System). Using the NAICS 'Drill
Down Code' offers a very large resource for business and
industry listings, you just have to get familiar with
how to use it. In Los Angeles Valley's own area in Los
Angeles and Hollywood there's more than enough
Entertainment attorneys to keep you busy researching to
approach. Now before you do though, - read on. o your overall career package you have
to offer a firm.
Your Familiarity Knowledge
Just as with considering approaching one of the
thousands of different Entertainment industry
categories, familiarizing yourself with the industry
you're approaching gives you that Maximum Impact , but
with one modification being that this time Familiarize
yourself with the 'Types' of Entertainment industry
clients the Law Firm you're approaching specializes in.
The reason being is that various firms deal mainly with
Film and TV and some just Film or TV, some focus
strictly on the Documentary industry and some on the
Music industry, as this has it's own set of complicated
situations that require very specific experience in. One
way to narrow your consideration options is to make
yourself a 'Short List' of say your Top 4 or so
industries you find desirable and are interested in
making a Paralegal Career in. This also goes for those
of you who may not want to be a 'part' of a law firm but
choose to go in business for yourself and offer your
Paralegal/LDA services to as an Independent.
Once
you have your Short List, and this is only an example
for illustration purposes to get you thinking
creatively, make 2 or 3 sub-categories within those
individual categories. For example, let's say you
selected the Entertainment Industry as one of your Top 4
on the list, which is very wide spread, so you would
want to select the sub-categories such as Music, Film,
TV. etc. Let's say for a second one on your list you
chose the AI (Artificial Intelligence) industry, now
list 2-3 specialty sub-categories within that one such
as, Robotics or even Oceanographic Robotics. You get the
idea. Now you're not just wondering around sending in
resumes to any standard job posting site. You have a
very well defined Plan, it's your Maximum-Impact Plan so
be creative!
Searching through the NAICS industry
code site can be very informing and get you thinking of
areas you probably would never have though of to
approach, and it can give you an edge in narrowing down
that competitive edge factor by searching in places
others aren't aware are available as a solid resource.

Paralegal Careers with Law Firms that Specialize
Previously we gave one of the examples of an industry
category as AI (Artificial Intelligence), these
organizations understand the legal and compliance risks
that can often be associated in this field. This
includes the creation and deployment of these emerging
and disruptive technologies. Most AI law firms require
true thought leaders in this emerging and highly
competitive field who have been recognized as producing
some of the leading analyses of these issues. The
lawyers in the Artificial Intelligence practice work in
a collaborative manner with developers of new AI
technologies and with established businesses looking to
implement AI software for example. Most of these AI
specialized law firms hire staff that are recognized
thought leaders in AI law who collaborate with
government agencies and industry associations to shape
emerging rules. Now all that being said, can you start
to see the value of a paralegal with an LDA
certification that has a familiarization of AI as well
as an obvious interest when applying to one of these
firms? If not, you're not paying attention!

ATTORNEYS PROVIDE ADVICE - - PARALEGALS/LDA's

LDA's perform legally qualified services as
authorized and afforded to them by law... at the
SPECIFIC DIRECTION OF THEIR CLIENT!"
The Career Potentials?
The Little Hoover Commission found that between now and
2030 AI technologies could have an economic impact in
California of more than $400 billion and anywhere from 1
to 11 million California jobs could be impacted. That's
jobs, however, what we here stress to you seeking a
career, and there's plenty of opportunity awaiting. Here
are just a few examples of how the law firm fits into
all of this.
Legal Research and Due Diligence
There are some AI programs that can read over a million
pages of law in a second, finding the exact passages
lawyers need. ROSS is one example of how AI levels the
playing field when it comes to legal research. Check out
Ross to get an idea of how it works and it's value.
Reviewing of Documents and Contracts
A perfect task for a paralegal, especially one familiar
in this specialized field. According to an article from
Forbes, AI can review documents and flag them as
particular to a case. Once a certain type of document is
denoted as relevant, machine learning algorithms can get
to work to find other documents that are similarly
relevant. This takes a load off of lawyers. Moreover, AI
makes contract revision more efficient by highlighting
standard clauses for different applications and having a
paralegal staff person familiarized in operating this
type of programming software is a big asset.
Seeing The Ability to Predict Legal Outcomes
AI has the ability to store years’ worth of legal data
and can sift through it all to tell lawyers their
chances of winning relevant cases. AI can provide
lawyers with insight on similar cases and help them
accurately answer client questions like, “Should I
settle?” As you can see, AI is able to handle many
humdrum tasks, which empowers lawyers to spend more time
on analyses, counseling, negotiations, and court visits.
In another article from FORBES publication,
titled AI Will Transform The Field Of Law
Some interesting new obstacles and innovations were
discussed and revealed. Virtually everything that these
new emerging AI companies do, ie; sales, purchases,
partnerships, mergers, reorganization, etc., they do via
legally enforceable contracts. Without a well-defined
and specialized field of intellectual property law the
entire business would crumble. So as you can see, having
both an interest and fact based knowledge, or as we
refer to it, 'Familiarization' in this industry is a
large asset for your career potential with a solid firm
dealing in this business.
So how exactly is AI
changing the legal industry? Experts expect lawyers to
start capitalizing on AI on a large scale within years.
Deloitte, one of the Big Four accounting organizations
and the largest professional services network in the
world predicts 100,000 legal roles will be automated by
2036 and law firms will start using new talent
strategies by 2020.
So as you can see, the
Potentials - are waiting for You, so what are You -
waiting for?

Paralegal Calendar
Dates - Recourse and Liability by Jonathan Arnold
Q:
As a Paralegal working for a law
firm you know that one of your main responsibilities is
to draft client calendars and ensure accurate dates. But
do you know what your/your firm's liabilities and client
recourse is should you mis-calendarize causing the
firm's client to incur an adverse outcome or financial
loss?
A: Any attorney that
uses the services of a paralegal is ultimately liable to
the client for any harm that results from the
paralegal's negligence or misconduct. Put another way,
the duties that an attorney owes to the client are
non-delegable, meaning that it is the attorney who bears
the brunt for mistakes made within the attorney's
office. That being said, no attorney is going to be
happy (to put it mildly) with errors -- especially
calendaring errors -- made by his or her paralegal(s).
The key here is to know not only how to compute dates
(ranging from applicable Statute of Limitations dates to
any relevant transaction dates) but then TO BEAT THOSE
DATES so that things like court filings, discovery
responses, revised contracts and the like are not only
calendared for completion before they are due, but also
sent/filed A FEW DAYS EARLY. How to do this is just one
of the important subjects we cover in our Paralegal
program.
