By now all of you are fully aware of the basic job functions of a Legal Secretary, at least I hope you are, but just for the introduction here make sure that your understanding aligns with the following; Legal secretaries perform legal clerical duties mainly at law firms and other legal offices. Unlike regular secretaries, even the higher paying executive secretaries whose job functions are basically proficiency in the use of standard phone, fax, word processor, database knowledge, good personality, and communication skills etc., Legal Secretaries require those functions along with extensive knowledge involving legal proceedings and documentation which others lack. Most workers complete legal secretary training programs prior to employment. A Legal Secretary performs all of the normal secretarial and administrative duties for an attorney that also includes typing letters, memos and reports, answering phones, filing documents, knowing computerized data systems, plus they have a legal experience skill set.
One of the incentives that lighten the requirement load that many of you probably have found in seeking a good Legal Secretary career is that it only requires a high school diploma with 0-2 years of experience in the field. You of course need to be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field, but that goes directly to the career of being a Legal Secretary.
